Community Health Camp, October 2025

This commitment was clearly demonstrated during the Span Medicare Community Health Medical Camp, held on 25th October 2025 at our Kisaasi facility. The camp reflected our core values of professionalism, accountability, confidentiality, transparency, and efficiency, guided by our motto: Serving with Compassion.
Participants benefited from a wide range of free and subsidized medical services, delivered by a dedicated team of trained healthcare professionals. Services included;
- General, Pediatric, and Gynecological consultations
- Eye and Dental check-ups
- Cervical and Breast cancer screening
- Sickle cell screening
- HIV testing and counseling
- Diabetes and Hypertension screening
- TB screening
- Immunization and family planning services
- Blood donation
- Subsidized ultrasound scans;
- Free medication for diagnosed conditions.
Purpose and Scope of the Medical Camp
The initiative targeted over 400 participants and sought to strengthen linkages between the community and health facilities.
Although the final turnout stood at 309 community members, this number reflected growing demand for integrated and compassionate healthcare services within the community.
Demographic Reach and Health Trends Identified
Of the 309 participants, 170 were female (55%) and 139 were male (45%), indicating higher health-seeking behavior among women. The largest proportion of participants fell within the 21–40 age group, accounting for 46% of total attendance, followed by individuals aged 41–60 years.
Clinical Consultations and Service Delivery
The hospital provided 309 medical consultations, distributed as follows:
- 236 patients were attended to by General Doctors
- 40 patients were Pediatric cases
- 33 patients were attended to by our Gynecologist
All patients underwent registration and triage, ensuring professional assessment, confidentiality of Medical information, and efficient patient flow throughout the camp.
Screening, Diagnostics, and Laboratory Findings
Every participant 309 (individuals) was screened for Tuberculosis (TB). Laboratory and screening services reached 228 individuals. These results reflect both the effectiveness of preventive screening and the importance of early detection in reducing disease burden.
Sickle Cell, Immunization, and Specialized Services
A total of 76 individuals that underwent sickle cell screening with the highest carrier rate observed among individuals aged 11–30 years, reinforcing the need for continued community education and genetic counseling.
Dental and Eye services recorded the highest uptake, highlighting unmet needs in routine preventive care.
Community Impact and Wellness Promotion
Beyond the numbers, the medical camp made a significant human impact. Hundreds of individuals accessed care they might otherwise have delayed or foregone. Chronic conditions were identified early, new diagnoses were responsibly linked to care, and patients received both treatment and education in one setting.
As a hospital that actively promotes wellness as a brand, Span Medicare integrated health education throughout the camp—emphasizing lifestyle modification, routine check-ups, reproductive health, cancer prevention, and child wellness. This holistic approach ensures that communities are empowered not only to seek care, but to sustain good health.
