On 3rd October 2026, Bulindo came alive with a medical launch built around one theme: “Healthy Community, Healthy Nation.” SPAN Medicare joined LFH and other health partners to bring care to the community’s doorstep.
Days like this express our vision: to be a quality and holistic health provider, trusted for excellence and compassion. For us, health is more than treating illness. It is prevention, early detection, education and lasting wellbeing, and that is exactly what this camp set out to promote.
A camp built around prevention
The camp offered a wide range of services, including
- Gynaecological and paediatric consultations,
- Eye examinations, and screening for sickle cell disease, diabetes, hypertension, TB and HIV.
- Immunization and family planning were also available.
Several laboratory tests, such as malaria, hepatitis B and blood sugar tests, were free of charge, while others, including ultrasound scans, were offered at subsidised rates. This reflects our mission: to deliver excellent and comprehensive health services that are patient-centered, timely, and affordable.
What the SPAN team delivered
Our team took responsibility for two key services: cervical cancer screening and immunization. We also provided health education, explaining why regular screening matters and how immunization protects families and communities. In total, we attended to 20 clients:
- 11 received immunization services
- 9 underwent cervical cancer screening
Our values in action
Four core values guide everything we do, and they were visible throughout the day. Professionalism showed in the careful, skilled delivery of screening and immunization. Transparency showed in our health education, where we explained clearly what each service involves and why it matters. Confidentiality shaped how we handled every client’s screening and any referral. Efficiency meant making the most of the day to deliver two essential services alongside our partners.
Early detection in action
Of the nine clients screened, two were referred for further assessment of possible cervical cancer-related concerns. Screening is not about fear. It is about finding concerns early, when care is most effective. These two referrals remind us why community-based screening is so valuable.
Partnership and lessons
Working with LFH showed what partnership can achieve. The day also showed us where we can grow: stronger community mobilisation to encourage more people to come forward, and careful preparation of supplies, equipment and information materials.

The way forward
We are committed to:
- Following up with the two referred clients, with full respect for their privacy
- Building a structured referral and follow-up system
- Continuing to educate communities on cervical cancer screening and immunization
- Keeping accurate records of clients served, services provided and referrals made
- Sustaining our partnership with LFH to extend community-based care
If you have never been screened, please do not wait. Visit SPAN Medicare at Bahai-Kisaasi Road, or join us at our next community camp. It would be our privilege to care for you.
