SPAN Medicare brings blood pressure screening to the Watoto Medical Camp
On 10th October 2026, Kira Football Grounds hosted a one-day medical camp organised by Watoto Church. SPAN Medicare was honoured to be invited, and our team focused on one of the most important checks for long-term health: blood pressure screening, together with practical health education.
This kind of outreach lives out our vision: to be a quality and holistic health provider, trusted for excellence and compassion. It also reflects our mission to deliver excellent and comprehensive health services that are patient-centered, timely, and affordable.
Triage with a purpose
High blood pressure often gives no obvious warning, which is why regular checks matter. Our team set out to screen community members, share simple guidance on healthy living, and show anyone with a concerning reading what to do next. Prevention and early detection are central to SPAN as a wellness brand.
The day in numbers
We attended to 307 clients: 129 men and 178 women, including 15 children. Of these, 38 clients had elevated blood pressure (10 men and 28 women).
Every client with an elevated reading was counselled and advised to see a doctor for further assessment and management. We also talked about routine health checks and healthy lifestyle choices, which help prevent complications from non-communicable diseases.
Our values in action
Professionalism meant accurate readings and clear, respectful counselling. Efficiency meant attending to 307 clients in a single day. Transparency meant explaining plainly what a reading means and why follow-up matters. Confidentiality meant treating every reading as private. These are not slogans. They are how we care for people, whether in our facility or at a football ground.
Working side by side
At the camp, SPAN worked alongside other participating organisations, supporting coordination and access to complementary services such as triage and counselling. Good community health is rarely the work of one organisation. It grows through trusted partnerships.
Why it matters
A single reading can start a conversation that protects someone’s health for years. The camp also helped more community members get to know SPAN Medicare and strengthened our relationship with Watoto Church and other providers, building a foundation for future collaboration.

The way forward
We are deeply grateful to Watoto Church, especially the Ntinda team, for the invitation. We look forward to more community camps like this one, to keep taking practical, compassionate care to the people we serve.
If your reading was high, please see a doctor soon. If you have not had your blood pressure checked recently, SPAN Medicare is ready to help. Visit us at Bahai-Kisaasi Road or join us at our next community camp.
Serving with Compassion.
